Anatomy for Artists

Anatomy for Artists
with Alan McGowan

A three day course in Human Anatomy carried out through
life-drawing, demonstration and anatomical examples.

Friday 14th January - Sunday 16th January 2011
at art’s complex, St Margarets House, Edinburgh.

Knowledge of the underlying anatomical structures of the body is a fundamental part of confident and expressive figurative art and was until recently a cornerstone of art training. Find out what artists as varied as Leonardo, Degas, Egon Schiele and Picasso all knew! The workshop will look at the skeleton, the main muscle masses and related drawing concerns in rendering the figure such as line, tone and perspective, working from a life model.

Cost is £180 for 3 days or £150 concession (students, art’s complex residents)
