Combining two classical traditions and studying the figure in the landscape will provide students with a unique opportunity to flex their artistic muscles to the full. We will be studying the impact these two areas of interest have on each other, finding ways of relating the two elements and allowing them to play off one another, thereby creating an opportunity to introduce drama and intrigue into the work.
The location will be an abandoned chapel, situated close to the Drawing School, with its wonderful over-grown surroundings – an ideal place to develop an element of mystery and narrative.
Easels will be transported to the site along with all necessary boards, paper, charcoal etc. Feel free to bring cameras and sketchbooks to assist with your research.
Should the weather not allow us to work outside we will transfer our attentions to Temple Meads Station and use the model in an equally fascinating setting but under-cover.
Refreshments available but lunch not provided.
