Cupola Gallery, established in 1991, is very lively and friendly with a reputation for quality shows and innovation. With four exhibition spaces plus a fabulous sculpture garden, the gallery stocks work from more than 300 local, national and international artists and makers. The main exhibition space plays host to a breathless turnover of shows - approximately ten a year. The other spaces house a constantly evolving collection of quality art and craft.
Cupola is also committed to providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere and to that end provides free chocolate cake every Saturday and free hot drinks to all our visitors. And children are always welcome.

I enjoy travelling and photography. The subject matter of my paintings is often from those travels.

Although I trained as an illustrator/caricaturist, which is predominantly a drawing skill, chemotherapy left me with neuropathy in my hands which made drawing painful so I turned to painting which is easier on the hands.I have had some success since 2004 selling through exhibitions, art auctions, galleries and private commissions.

I work first hand from direct observation or from photographs taken by myself, which connects me with the subject and acts as an aide memoire. Subjects include beach scenes, beach huts, landscapes and flower paintings. Watercolour or acrylics are my preferred media. Colour, composition and texture are important elements.

jaggedart's picture

jaggedart is known for its unique and very definite style. Since its inception in 2001, the gallery has become renowned for showcasing beautiful, quirky yet sophisticated works of art.

jaggedart promotes new artists through a varied programme of exhibitions. These include works on paper, photographs, paintings, prints and three-dimensional pieces. Exhibitions vary between themed shows and solo exhibitions, with dynamic use of the space, site specific installations, which result in intriguing shows. Artists often work in traditional media, but it is the innovative and intense involvement with techniques and materials, which is always striking. Many artists work with materials, such as maps, books, magazines, plants, textiles, audio tape, cement or wood, that have had a previous existence and now through their intervention, give them a new life.

jaggedart’s works appeal both to new and experienced collectors. Its domestic scale allows the visitor to imagine how the work would look in their home. Our clients also include museums, public collections, interior designers and hotels. jaggedart shows works where content and form are delivered in an aesthetically engaging way, which hopefully will move the viewer and challenge their perceptions. jaggedart does not try to be cutting edge; we show beautiful, poetic pieces that people would love to live with.

I have been a professional artist for four years with a special interest in watercolour and oil painting. While enthusiastic about all natural and energetic subjects, my particular passion is painting amateur and professional sports athletes.

My work to date captures subjects participating in urban sports, snowboarding, skiing, parkour, skateboarding and surfing. My inspiration comes from the skill, precision, motion and energy of the athletes, which I then work to capture on the canvas.

Now living in London I am concentrating on a series of paintings and exhibitions to illustrate the changing capital city and performance of the British Olympic athletes in the run up to London 2012 Olympic Games.
