A multi-disciplinary gallery and store with an on site studio space for production, artist in residence schemes, exhibitions, events and workshops. Focused on making art, design and craft accessible to all, it provides a constantly evolving space for new designers and members of the public to create, learn and educate.
The site sources unique and interesting work from local, established and emerging artists and designers, as well as bringing new talent to Scotland from elsewhere.
Loosely based around the idea of rooms in a house - the site hosts exhibitions in the 'drawing room', workshops in the 'studio', books in the 'library', jewellery in the 'dressing room', and so on. The name Welcome Home also comes from the idea of having everything under one roof.
The items sold in the gallery, shop and online are predominantly handmade, well designed, useful, beautiful or all of the above. Whether it's a book on photography, a vintage find, a carefully crafted necklace, a screen printed T-shirt or an original illustration, everything you'll find in Welcome Home will have its own story and be all the more special for it.

I am a Russian-born artist based in Scotland. Some of my works might imply something very absurd and not entirely cheerful in their very idea, but I try to present the subject so it is slightly exaggerated and sentimental, and always filled with emotions. Russians are guided by their emotions, not by common sense, and this has an effect on all my work (whether I am paying myself a compliment here, I am not sure..).
My characters might look quite realistic and recognisable, but their grotesque figures make them look ironic-we see one thing but they tell us another. Like many things in life-things are not always the way they seem. In other words, life as we see it but don't always notice.
I want to provoke a comment, a reaction, an emotion. I want to make you smile.
Growing up under the authoritarian Soviet regime, when ordinary Russians had to wear that drab look of obedience and self suppression, I had always wanted to escape from that total uniformity and find the way to express my vision of life in a different way, reflecting happier, funnier side of everyday events.
My characters sometimes seem emotionally isolated, keeping themselves to themselves, even when they are clustered in groups, but they are not lacking emotions, they only express them in their own way. They are content and happy, yet they do not take themselves too seriously.
I enjoy travelling and photography. The subject matter of my paintings is often from those travels.
Although I trained as an illustrator/caricaturist, which is predominantly a drawing skill, chemotherapy left me with neuropathy in my hands which made drawing painful so I turned to painting which is easier on the hands.I have had some success since 2004 selling through exhibitions, art auctions, galleries and private commissions.
I work first hand from direct observation or from photographs taken by myself, which connects me with the subject and acts as an aide memoire. Subjects include beach scenes, beach huts, landscapes and flower paintings. Watercolour or acrylics are my preferred media. Colour, composition and texture are important elements.

I make expressive carved sculptures in a variety of media, sometimes for commissions. I have worked on sculptures in Canada, Serbia, and Italy, and spend part of each year in Italy at a studio in Carrara. My work is figurative and also abstract.
Speciality, wearable art. Bespoke items made to order.
