Project Space 11 is an artist-led initiative situated in the heart of Plymouth City Market, supported by Plymouth City Council, Arts Council England and Plymouth College of Art.

The setting of a traditional indoor market, a microcosm of Plymouth culture and unique in its architecture, creates an unusual and challenging arena for visual art.

Coordinated by five Plymouth based artists, Project Space 11 strives to critically engage with artist-led practice regionally, nationally and potentially internationally; creating a platform for artist activity in the city.

The programme intends to be larger than its physical home; a small market place unit, operating as a Hub for artist led activity, with a rolling programme of events, exhibitions and happenings. Alongside this will be regular opportunities for artist networking, critical discourse and discussion.

London Atelier of Representational Art is unique in the UK with its approach. Teaching the fundamental aspects of drawing, painting and sculpture from life. Inspired by the atelier method the unique emphasis of the course is given to working directly from the life model in a continuous pose using the “sight- size” technique. We aim to teach essential concepts of proportion, line, gesture, form and light to best master expression of the human form.

ALL LEVELS WELCOME.

FULL-TIME & PART-TIME COURSES
Students will spend three hours a day drawing or painting the nude, and the further three hours drawing or painting a bargue drawing, plaster cast, still life or portrait model. A sufficient standard of drawing will be required before being permitted to paint. If one is considering attending for a sustained period, we recommend a starting date at the beginning of new poses. Please view our timetable for availability and life model sessions.

One can choose the number of weeks one wants to attend but, in terms of availability, we do consider full time students to have priority over part time students.

MONDAY & THURSDAY EVENING COURSES
Working from the model in a sustained pose over 10 weeks, students will learn the fundamentals of ’sight size’ technique in the context of line and mass drawing and, ultimately, in painting. The teaching structure is basically the same as for the daytime figure courses, and we offer the unique advantage of students retaining their own spot every week, enabling everyone to experience the value of studying a prolonged pose.

WEEKEND COURSES
Study long-pose figure drawing in pencil or charcoal. We teach a clear and simple approach to developing an accurate, naturalistic figure drawing using the sight-size technique. Students can expect the same high quality of teaching as can be found in our full time courses. Applicants can sign up for the morning class, the afternoon class, or the whole day. The pose remains the same throughout morning and afternoon sessions, both sessions lasting three hours. No prior experience needed.
The course is flexible, allowing students to pick the five Saturdays that suit their schedules best out of a total of six consecutive weekends.

A group of Norwegian art and design students will be exhibiting their work at the annual Norwegian Student Organization for Students Abroad (ANSA) exhibition at the Maverik Showroom in East London between April 28 and May 1. The theme of the exhibition is “Northern Light”, which is strongly associated with Norway and normally occurs in the north of the country during the darkest months of winter. At the exhibition, all light will be blocked out of the gallery room and the walls will be lit up with moving images of different types of northern light. Small islands will be created on the floor with a lamp next to each artist's work. Last year the exhibition was a success with around 1,000 visitors the first day and 200 on each of the following days.

welcome_home's picture

A multi-disciplinary gallery and store with an on site studio space for production, artist in residence schemes, exhibitions, events and workshops. Focused on making art, design and craft accessible to all, it provides a constantly evolving space for new designers and members of the public to create, learn and educate.
The site sources unique and interesting work from local, established and emerging artists and designers, as well as bringing new talent to Scotland from elsewhere.
Loosely based around the idea of rooms in a house - the site hosts exhibitions in the 'drawing room', workshops in the 'studio', books in the 'library', jewellery in the 'dressing room', and so on. The name Welcome Home also comes from the idea of having everything under one roof.
The items sold in the gallery, shop and online are predominantly handmade, well designed, useful, beautiful or all of the above. Whether it's a book on photography, a vintage find, a carefully crafted necklace, a screen printed T-shirt or an original illustration, everything you'll find in Welcome Home will have its own story and be all the more special for it.

I make collagraphs and etchings with occasional forays into monoprint and mixed media. Most of my work is concerned with landscape and the built environment. Most of my pieces are derived from direct observation "plein air" but all are transformed to reflect what I may feel to be truer realities. The collagraphs particularly are often entirely imagined constructions employing a cubist aesthetic Thus I consider myself a realist rather than a naturalist artist.
I enjoy offering printmaking courses in etching, collagraph and monoprint. I have a portable 18" etching press which can be taken to venues lacking such technology
